YES! This is the same method I used to become conversationally fluent and still use to remain fluent!
From: Taylor Rutter
Dear Friend,
Hey, my name is Taylor Rutter. I'm here because I want to give you something near and dear to me called "SomoSpanish Speakers".
This is my personal framework and course to help you Master Spanish, pronunciation and conversational ability so well that people will think you're a native speaker.
But before I grant you access, I want to share a bit of my backstory with you on how this all happened.
but something I've worked on over several years from failure, trial and error, experience, and research...all just for you!
Several years ago I hitchhiked into Mexico with a friend, a raccoon, a dog, a backpack, $80 and a handful of Spanish phrases I had learned the day before.
My main objective: Find a horse and a wife.
I ended up getting the temu version: a motorcycle and a baby mama, but that's a different story ;)
My second objective: blend in as quickly as possible so locals would stop charging me the 'foreigner tax'.
Within a few days I discovered a method (MIREDO) to master my pronunciation.
A couple weeks later, I mastered pronunciation and sounded like a native, according to locals.

And yes, it is inevitable to master pronunciation quickly with this method.
But what happened, is I sounded native, but as soon as people conversed with me I'd instantly freeze up and tell them I don't speak Spanish.
So I decided to go all in and learn Spanish
There was just one problem:
Everybody was essentially teaching Spanish the same way, in the same order, and the only thing it successfully did was confuse me.
After months of trying to learn, I got burnt out and gave up for awhile because none of it was sticking.
Then I noticed I was doing exactly what everyone else was doing, and as Earl Knightingale once said "If you don't have a good model for success, just look around you and do the exact opposite of what everyone else is doing".
So I did just that. I did my own research, spoke with Spanish speaking people (that were fluent in English) studied daily sometimes for hours, and began creating my own curriculum that actually made sense to me and other people that were also struggling to learn Spanish.
After learning Spanish so well that I could teach it, I was ready to face the world. But what happened next, completely confused me
I instantly felt forsaken
That's when things went from good to bad. All I could think was
"I don't get it...I KNOW Spanish. Why can't I speak it?"
It was a huge insult to my ego because I always picked up new skills quickly.
Progress halted, but time kept passing.
People complimented my Spanish, but really they were referring to my pronunciation.
I felt like a fraud
But the real pain came from watching other foreigners, some twice my age (who I knew for a fact did not know Spanish as well as I did) converse effortlessly.
And because of that, they were more social, had more friends, got invited to more things, and had access to exponentially more opportunities than I did.
Meanwhile I felt like an outcast, like I didn't belong.
And I was blinded by envy telling myself
"I've worked so hard to learn Spanish! That should be me getting those opportunities!!"
The feeling of isolation grew heavy.
In group settings I'd sit there and smile and nod and fake laugh when everyone else laughed.
When someone asked me a question I'd have to ask them to repeat themselves multiple times and enunciate each word clearly and slowly.
I felt like a huge burden and that people didn't want to talk with me.
It didn't change anything though.
I didn't know what my problem was.
For all I knew, I did everything right.
All it did was heighten the overwhelming sense of doom that I'll never fit in...that I'll just be a 'perpetual tourist' living in ignorance.
I had a couple drinks and was feeling pretty loose.
I saw an attractive girl so I started talking to her, or at least I tried.
It was going really well up to the point in between small talk and actually having a conversation.
Then everything just sounded like one long string of jargon that I couldn't decipher, and my mind was occupied trying to understand every word being thrown at me.
And not even two minutes later I saw her not just talking, but giggling and clearly have a much better time with some other guy who was also a foreigner, who conversed well in Spanish.
And spent the rest of the weekend inside watching movies and eating ice cream and fried chicken.
During that down time, I really thought about what I was doing wrong, and took a long hard look at what the others were doing right.
• I avoided conversations by studying.
• I thought I wanted fluency but I was too afraid of making mistakes.
• I told myself I wanted to comprehend yet I'd automatically shut down when people spoke to me.
• I only attempted to converse on the weekends after a couple drinks (so 2 days out of 7 I'd actually practice)
• I compared my progress to others, and would quickly lose confidence and become frustrated
There was just one tiny little issue:
I was SUPER shy and introverted (still am). I mean, I only spoke on the weekends after having a couple drinks.
But at this point, it felt like life or death to me
So I put myself out there and started speaking anyway.
And as I continued to force myself to speak, I started to pick up on things. Context first, then certain phrases, then individual words.
I wasn't just facing a 'language barrier' I was facing a 'self barrier'.
It wasn't until I looked at my life and past my denial, that I realized I had no life, no local or even Spanish speaking friends, and no respect for the place I was living in and as a result, received no respect.
Then I understood the old "local v. foreigner" dilemma.
It all boiled down to lack of communication, which leads to lack of community.
And I refused to be seen as another 'ignorant foreigner ' that's on permanent holiday, contributing nothing, and only taking.
So I gave myself "one last hoorah!"
I scrapped everything I was doing and what I thought I knew about Spanish, and started from zero.
I researched HEAVILY, studied hours a day for several months, spoke with countless people about Spanish who were fluent in English, and began crafting my own curriculum that I could learn from.
To my surprise, the hard work paid off
I finally started to know and understand Spanish, even became obsessed with it because of all the new opportunities, connections and relationships.
I was also receiving a lot of attention and praise which admittedly stroked my ego.
At first, I was only doing it for myself so I could master Spanish and finally feel a part of the culture I was living in.
But people began asking how I was learning so quickly. So naturally I began talking about it and then teaching others.

Because 99% of people follow what everyone else does!

Imagine the tortoise and the hare are each learning the guitar with zero prior music experience outside of listening to it.
For a month, the hare learned 10 new chord shapes a day, believing he was making progress...
Meanwhile the tortoise began each day by dancing to understand rhythm as a feeling.
Then spent the remaining time to practice strumming patterns and timing, using only 4 chord shapes.
On paper, the hare knew more: 300 chord shapes vs 4
But when he played, all those laughs turned to praise...
...because his music had so much rhythm and soul despite only knowing 4 chord shapes.
And the hare?
Boo'd for how bland and out of time his music was
Now the hare has to take 2 steps back in order to progress while the tortoise continues his path onwards and upwards.

For many of you, Spanish is new. (And that's OK, Welcome!)
That means no matter where you learn, you'll take it as face value.

For example, right after hitchhiking into Mexico, the first thing I asked was "how do I say 'help'?"
The response: "Un perro loco"
I walked around for 3 days, saying with so much conviction "necesito un perro loco" to strangers.
I believed I was saying "I need help" but I was actually saying "I need a crazy dog".
Imagine this grungy hitchhiker coming up to you and saying "I need a crazy dog!"
The next thing I asked was "how do I say, 'can you help us with some money?'" (People would take pictures with the raccoon and that's how we'd make money).
The translation: "¿me puedes ayudar con unas monedas?"
But people would only give us a couple coins when I asked.
That's when I learned the phrase meant, "can you help me with some COINS?"

In both situations, I wasn't even aware that I didn't know how wrong I was and THAT is the danger of learning something NEW
